Your opportunity
Define, communicate, make, and maintain the User Interface and User Experience of a game.
Direction & Vision
- Accountable for presentation art direction;
- Conceptualize, develop, and direct the visual signature and style for the game presentation, which include: visual identity at product level, User Interface & experience in menus, in-game signs & feedback;
- Ensure that each of those elements translate and support the Art Direction pillars, and transcend the overall Art Direction;
- Pitch UI direction to key stakeholders, gain support by clearly explaining the what and the why, act on feedback appropriately;
- Create and maintain style guide as well as any documentation necessary to properly convey the UI direction to team members, or outsource partners.
Execution
- Accountable for quality of the UI/UX for the project;
- Define what quality means, notably create clear benchmarks;
- Create briefs and tools necessary to clearly convey needs and expectations;
- Communicate clearly to the team (internal and external);
- Provide clear and structured feedback;
- Put forth action plans to achieve quality objectives;
- Participate in the creation of assets where needed.
Project Management
- Accountable for delivering UI/UX on time;
- Define and optimize work methodology and pipeline;
- Scope UI/UX tasks, participate in prioritization of Art Milestones;
- Ensure deliverables are clearly defined;
- Allocate workload to internal & external UI/UX team;
- Track progress and completion of deliverables (internal and external);
- Communicate with all departments to circulate relevant information, gather proper feedback and approval;
- Manage all reviews and provide feedback in a timely and structured manner;
- Follow up on feedback to make sure changes are made;
- Ensure stakeholders are aware of progress, issues and risks affecting timeline; propose mitigation plans;
- Establish and develop a solid business relationship with art outsourcers when appropriate.
Team building & Management
- Help recruit and ensure proper onboarding new team member (define needs, mandates, responsibilities);
- Mentor UI/UX team members, provide feedback on their work and make sure they grow professionally.
Experience & Qualifications
- College or university diploma in Graphic Design, Game Art, Illustration, or equivalent training;
- 5 years' experience as UI artist or UX designer; Experience leading a Team on a project, big or small;
- Experience defining and communicating a visual Direction;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Good knowledge of mobile artistic production pipelines.
Technical Skills
- Strong fundamental knowledge of art, visual communication, and design principles;
- Excellent hands-on artistic skills: from pre-visualization and concept art to color correction and polish;
- Strong creative mind for ideation, innovation and UX;
- Familiarity with tablet games and related creative crafts such as animation, audio, game design and game art;
- Versatility and comfort working in a broad range of styles and genres;
- Strong understanding of Adobe Photoshop and illustrator;
- Some knowledge of Unity;
- Animation, motion graphics, and print design is a plus.
